amused vs bemused

ever wondered what is the difference between the 2?

btw, just in case you are wondering, Cemused is not a word. (cos Amused and Bemused. geddit?  ha ha.)

Amused is when you think something is funny. i.e. you were not amused by my previous cold joke cos you don't think it is funny.

Bemused is when you are confused, i.e you were bemused by my previous cold joke cos you had no idea what i meant.

so i saw this post the other day

and i was wondering what he is talking about. hasn't jollibean been around forever?

then i realised Jollibee is not a typo of Jollibean

turns out Jollibee is a fastfood chain from Philippines, and some "core-Singaporeans" are upset about it

so i scrolled down from the aforementioned status to see what were people's response, and why people are upset about the opening of a new fastfood chain.

I was bemused by her response.
So why will we get upset when all the filipinas "flock there"? cos we like it a lot and we hate to queue? then we will not be upset when Jollibee open 10 outlets at the same time?

again, bemused. i really don't understand how does queuing for IT show offers overnight relate to Jollibee's opening?

are people just filled with disgust and hatred for everything non-Singapore that we have become incapable of coherent thought?

scrolling down somemore, i see that the original poster had the same thoughts as me.

this was getting amusing.. and i couldn't wait to see what possible responses those people would have

somehow the 1st commenter went so off base no one else could follow what she was thinking.

and the 2nd commenter struck the ultimate home run cos even he himself has no idea what he is saying.

so there.
amuse vs. bemused. =)

hope you learnt something today.
